Fast internet for the outlying area?
Starlink offers the solution
Businesses (and residents) in the outlying area often face limited options for a good fixed internet connection. Traditional wired connections via outdated telephone lines (DSL), often do not offer sufficient stability and speed. And improved connections via cable or fibre are not always available in remote areas. For the fibre-optic network, this is because, because of the high construction and maintenance costs relative to the number of potential subscribers, internet providers often do not find it profitable to build this network.

Limited options? Time for a new solution
If there is no (A)DSL or fibre optic cable or if the distance to the neighbourhood cabinet is too great, internet providers offer 4G for the outlying area. Our Octalarm Connect subscription also offers a 4G GSM connection. However, this allows you only 1 call-out option for reporting your process and technical malfunctions. Your alarm process is thus not redundant. For critical, technical processes, we recommend setting up your process redundantly at all times. Since 1 January 2024, it is even mandatory for intensive livestock farming in the Netherlands to have at least two active telephone lines to call out alarms.
For businesses (and residents) in the outlying area, there is now a reliable solution: Starlink.
The future of wireless internet in rural areas: Starlink
Starlink Standard is an innovative and reliable solution that provides high speeds - ideal if you work in remote areas where other options fall short. This wireless internet system operates via SpaceX's Starlink satellites, which orbit the earth. This makes it possible to achieve fast internet connection with low latency even in the most remote regions with limited 4G/5G coverage.
What is Starlink?
- Wireless internet via satellite
- Ideal for areas without fixed internet infrastructure
- Suitable for both businesses and individuals
With Starlink, you are no longer dependent on outdated networks or unstable mobile connections and enough people have already successfully made this switch. The connection is fast, stable and suitable for applications where real-time communication is important, such as VoIP telephony and alarms.
How do you take out a Starlink subscription and where can you buy it?
- Subscribe to Starlink: https://www.starlink.com/gb. Choose a personal or business account and enter the service address.
- Select a suitable subscription, the required hardware and mounting materials (and checkout).
- Installation and activation is simple via the Quickstart and installation app provided.
Starlink at Adésys
We too have been using Starlink's Enterprise kit since the beginning of this year, which we have tested in several active topics within our technical services. This kit is recommended for companies in fixed locations, using their own routers and third-party network equipment.
- Starlink for business
- Service: Priority – 40 GB
- Hardware: Enterprise
We actively deployed the Starlink Standard satellite connection as a backup to our fixed Internet line and immediately noticed a change in response: systems were more responsive and stable, even with VoIP traffic. And of course, we tested the deployment of this satellite connection with our Octalarm line; the internet connection via satellite makes it possible to dial out via VoIP!
What does Starlink internet cost per month?
The cost of a Starlink Standard subscription depends on your location and usage - for many users, a stable connection is available from as little as EUR 50 per month. For business use, for example, choose the Starlink Enterprise subscription. You will then pay:
- From €47 per month for local priority (Local Priority)
- Or from €241 per month for global coverage (Global Priority)
- One-off cost for the Enterprise hardware: €1,181 (including antenna and mounting hardware)
You simply set up a Starlink subscription via starlink.com/gb. Within days, you will have a stable connection - even in the most remote areas.
Installation is easy and only requires some basic knowledge and the right tools everything you need is included in the standard kit. Via the Quickstart manual and app, you have working Starlink internet in the UK within minutes, with low latency and support for real-time applications such as VoIP and monitoring.
Wireless internet for the outlying area has been realised: what next?
From the moment you have wireless internet, you can take out a subscription for VoIP (Voice over IP). Octalarm Connect offers you both a 4G GSM and a VoIP line in one subscription. Of course, you can also choose your own provider. Just make sure that this provider offers VoIP over 4G and that the 4G GSM goes over the LTE-M band.
More information: Octalarm Connect
Via the wireless internet, you now have a 4G GSM connection as well as a VoIP connection. This makes your alarm process redundant; you call out over 2 lines.
